Federal Grid Company to invest 70 bln rbl in railway power grids
MOSCOW, Feb 17 (PRIME) -- Russia’s power grid operator Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy Systems (FGC UES) intends to invest 69.4 billion rubles in modernization of energy grids of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian railway in 2017-2020, a spokesperson for the company told PRIME on Friday.
FGC UES initiated the project to upgrade power systems of Russia’s major railroads in 2011. The company has been constructing new substations and high-voltage lines.
Modernization of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian railway is among the biggest infrastructural projects in the modern history of Russia, estimated at a total of 562.4 billion rubles, including 302.2 billion rubles of Russian Railroad’s own cash, 150 billion rubles from the National Wealth Fund and 110.2 billion from the federal budget.
